AI predicts cancer patient survival with doctor's notes.

Researchers from the University of British Columbia and BC Cancer have developed an AI model that uses natural language processing to predict cancer patient survival with greater than 80% accuracy. By analyzing oncologist notes following a patient's initial consultation visit, the model identifies unique characteristics of each patient and predicts survival rates at six months, 36 months, and 60 months. Unlike previous models, this approach is applicable to all types of cancer and can provide a more nuanced assessment. The technology has the potential to improve cancer care by personalizing and optimizing the care a patient receives, and it could be applied in cancer clinics around the world.

TikToks MakeUp AI

TikTok users have been stunned by an AI-powered filter called Bold Glamour that creates realistic transformations of their faces, Basically, MakeUp AI. The filter is based on generative AI effects that change a user's facial features in real time, including an eyebrow eraser, lip puckering effect and a smiling effect. The filter recognizes users' faces, even when they move their hands in front of them.

The filter appears to make use of machine learning technologies, especially generative adversarial networks (GANs), which pit two neural networks against each other to achieve the desired transformation.

However, while the filter is impressive, it raises concerns about manipulated images and perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards.
