Google Will Add AI to Search

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced plans to add conversational AI to its flagship Search product, yes Google.com, allowing users to ask questions and engage with large language models (LLMs) in the context of search. It's no real surprise as we’ve all seen the relative success Microsoft has had with integrating AI directly into Bing.

The difference here is that Google's implementation would have a significant impact on search forever due to its 93.4% worldwide share of the search market. Pichai sees AI chat as a way to expand the company's search business, rather than a threat.

Google tried the Microsoft strategy of “go viral with ChatGPT, then Release an internet-connected version on Bing” with Bard but it didn’t go that way.

Mayor Wants to Sue OpenAI

I actually just laughed when I saw this but I guess it's worth mentioning since if and that's a big if, ChatGPT is found guilty, could hinder how companies release models. Again it's a MASSIVE if.

A regional Australian mayor, Brian Hood, has threatened to sue OpenAI if it does not correct ChatGPT's false claims that he had served time in prison for bribery. ChatGPT had falsely named Hood as a guilty party in a foreign bribery scandal involving a subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of Australia in the early 2000s.

Hood, who was the person that notified authorities about the payment of bribes to foreign officials to win currency printing contracts, was never charged with a crime. Lawyers representing Hood said they sent a letter of concern to OpenAI on March 21, which gave OpenAI 28 days to fix the errors about their client or face a possible defamation lawsuit.

If Hood sues, it would likely be the first time a person has sued the owner of ChatGPT for claims made by the automated language product, which has become wildly popular since its launch last year. Australian defamation damages payouts are generally capped at around A$400,000 ($269,360).

Hood did not know the exact number of people who had accessed the false information about him, but the nature of the defamatory statements was serious enough that he may claim more than A$200,000.

Samsung ChatGPT Leak

Samsung employees have reportedly leaked confidential company information to OpenAI's ChatGPT on three separate occasions. The leaks show the popularity of the AI chatbot for professionals and the ability of OpenAI to collect sensitive data.

In one case, an employee copied the source code from a faulty semiconductor database into ChatGPT. In another case, an employee shared confidential code to find a fix for defective equipment. In the third case, an employee submitted a meeting to the chatbot and asked it to create meeting minutes.

Samsung is trying to control the damage by limiting each employee's prompt to ChatGPT to 1024 bytes. This comes three weeks after Samsung lifted a previous ban on employees using ChatGPT, and the company is now developing its own in-house AI.

This samething also happened to Amazon and Walmart.
