Amazon has made its AI-powered coding assistant, CodeWhisperer, available for free to individual developers, undercutting the pricing of its Microsoft-made rival. The tool generates and suggests code within integrated development environments and automatically filters out biased suggestions while identifying security vulnerabilities. It now supports several languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#.

Big Sam (sam altman) at an MIT talk said:

"An earlier version of the letter claimed OpenAI is training GPT-5 right now. We are not and won't for some time. ... We are doing other things on top of GPT-4 that I think have all sorts of safety issues that are important to address and were totally left out"

What does this mean?
Well don’t expect GPT 5 anytime soon, but expect a “safer” GPT 4. Which might mean a more restricted GPT 4. The same way GPT 3 was made safer.

Google AI’s Med-PaLM 2 Access

This is not one you can just go ahead to use right now but will have a major impact on your life sooner.

Google just released access to Med-PaLM 2 to select healthcare customers. A month ago Google LLC today previewed Med-PaLM 2, a neural network capable of answering medical exam questions to be used by doctors. Imagine ChatGPT but for doctors and is much much more accurate (no room for errors here).

When initially previewed it was just a demo but now it's been given to some hospitals/clinics so if this is successful we should have more hospitals using this tech.

Meta has open-sourced Animated Drawings, an AI project that brings drawings to life. Originally released by Meta's FAIR team in 2021, the tool uses object detection, pose estimation models, and image processing-based segmentation to capture a digital version of a drawing and deform and animate it. The project has been open-sourced with a dataset of around 180,000 drawings to foster innovation and collaboration within the open-source community.
