The new GPT-3.5-turbo offers four times the context length (16,000 tokens) of the original version but at twice the price.

However, OpenAI is reducing the pricing for the original GPT-3.5-turbo by 25%, making it more affordable for developers. The reduced price is $0.0015 per 1,000 input tokens and $0.002 per 1,000 output tokens. OpenAI is also reducing the price of its text-embedding-ada-002 model, which measures the relatedness of text strings. The new price is $0.0001 per 1,000 tokens, a 75% reduction.

OpenAI has indicated a focus on incremental updates to existing models rather than developing entirely new models. CEO Sam Altman confirmed that GPT-5 won’t be trained anytime soon.
