OpenAI's ChatGPT tips

Prompt engineering is a valuable technique that can greatly enhance the performance of ChatGPT. OpenAI recently released a "GPT best practices" guide, offering insights on how to optimize the output of the model.

One key takeaway is the importance of providing detailed prompts. The more specific and detailed the prompt is, the better the quality of the generated output. This involves clearly specifying the steps required to complete a task, offering reference text for context, and providing examples whenever possible.

For complex assignments, it is recommended to collaborate with ChatGPT in order to formulate a solution. Breaking down multi-step tasks into smaller subtasks allows ChatGPT to reason through the problem more effectively. For instance, when using ChatGPT for an assignment, it is advised to tackle it section by section instead of generating the entire thing at once.

ChatGPT is more of a straight out of college Junior developer than a 10 years in industry dev.

Apple’s WWDC Event Recap (From an AI View)

Apple said AI a whooping 0 times during the event, instead replacing it with ML.

btw they launched Vision PRO AR/VR headsets

During Apple's annual developer's conference, WWDC, the company showcased its advancements in AI and machine learning.

While Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI have been dropping AI tools and research every 2 business days, Apple seemed relatively quiet.

However, during WWDC Apple unveiled significant AI features, such as an improved iPhone autocorrect system based on a machine learning program powered by a transformer language model, similar to ChatGPT. This autocorrect system will learn from the user typing behavior to provide better suggestions.

Unlike its rivals, Apple aims to integrate AI models directly into its devices instead of relying on server farms and cloud-based solutions. The new autocorrect feature running on the iPhone is particularly noteworthy, as it operates without the need for expensive GPU clusters like those used by ChatGPT. On-device AI offers advantages in terms of data privacy and allows Apple to optimize performance.

Apple focused on highlighting the practical features enabled by AI. They didn’t reveal minimal information about the specific AI models or training data used.

During the conference, Apple presented various AI-powered features, including automatic noise cancellation adjustment in AirPods Pro during conversations, 3D scanning of the user's face and body for virtual videoconferencing with the Vision Pro headset, and the ability to identify fields in PDFs using neural networks. Additionally, Apple received enthusiastic applause for a machine learning feature that can identify a user's pet and organize their pet photos into a dedicated folder.

Google and Facebook Urged by the EU to label AI-generated content

The EU is calling on Google and Facebook to label content and images generated by AI as part of efforts to combat fake news and disinformation campaigns, particularly from Russia.

To address the potential negative implications of AI, the EU wants social media companies to label AI-generated content in a way that is easily noticeable and understandable for users. They suggest using phrases like "this is the robot talking" to clearly indicate that the content is not created by humans. The EU emphasizes the importance of combating the misuse of AI, which has the ability to quickly fabricate events and voices.

EU officials have engaged in discussions with tech company leaders, such as Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, who acknowledged the need to detect fake news and AI Content stating that they are developing technologies to address the issue.
