Meta Releases Segment Anything Medel (SAM) AI

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has released a new AI model called "Segment Anything" that can recognize and cut out objects in images, even if it has never seen the object before. The model has a demo feature that users can try with their profile picture or a picture of an outfit they like. The use cases for the model include background removal and making collages. Additionally, the model can be used for AR/VR to isolate individual objects in a scene.

Meta has also open-sourced two large datasets it used to train the model, one of which is 400 times larger than the previous largest.

Google AI Drops The Largest Vision Transformer Model

This is a tad bit technical but I’ll try to make it as simple as possible to understand.

First off what are transformers? Transformers are a type of AI architecture used for natural language processing tasks, like language translation or text generation. They work by analyzing words and phrases in a sentence, paying attention to how each word relates to the others, and then using that information to make predictions about what the sentence means.

Google Dropped a new model called ViT-22B, the biggest dense vision model with 22 billion parameters, which is 5.5 times larger than the previous largest vision backbone, allowing it to see images in greater detail.

So I know what you’re thinking ViT-22B, NLP, billions of parameters, cool but what does that mean for AI or for me? well, it means Robots with ViT will have increased similarity to human visual perception, which will lead to better Robots down the line.

Microsoft has integrated its Bing Chat AI into its SwiftKey keyboard for Android, allowing users to access the chatbot at the tap of a button in any app.

The feature is slowly rolling out and is only available on the beta version of SwiftKey on the Google Play Store.
