OpenAI Launches AI Detection Tool

OpenAI, the company behind DALL-E and ChatGPT, has released a free tool that it says is meant to "distinguish between text written by a human and written by AIs." It warns the classifier is "not fully reliable" and "should not be used as a primary decision-making tool." They also noted that the classifier is very unreliable on short texts (below 1,000 characters).

In the Press release, OpenAI noted it is focusing on teaching AI writing in schools, and is engaging with educators to figure out what they see from ChatGPT.

Google is Testing Its Own ChatGPT in Browser

Google is testing a new bot called "Apprentice Bard", which uses Google’s conversation technology LaMDA, that's gunning for ChatGPT's throne! But, wait! Before ChatGPT starts feeling threatened, let's take a closer look at the competition. According to sources, Bard has the ability to answer questions on current events – a feature that ChatGPT (sadly) doesn't possess, since it's only updated up to 2021.

Google is also testing a new search page that uses a question-and-answer format, basically ChatGPT’s UI format.

It's unclear at this point which of Google's projects are going to be released to the public.

Google AI chief Jeff Dean told employees during an all-hands meeting to discuss the company's response to ChatGPT that it's moving "more conservatively than a small startup."
