Google’s RoboCat AI Model
DeepMind by Google has developed an AI model called RoboCat, which can perform various tasks using different robotic arms. What sets RoboCat apart is its ability to solve and adapt to multiple tasks using real-world robots.
The model was trained on a combination of simulated and real-life robotics data, including images and actions. Researchers collected demonstrations of tasks performed by humans using robotic arms, fine-tuning RoboCat on these tasks through specialized models. The final version of RoboCat underwent training on 253 tasks and was benchmarked on 141 task variations in simulation and the real world.
DeepMind claims that RoboCat successfully learned to operate different types of robotic arms, even those more complex than its initial training. While its success rate varied across tasks, with a range of 13% to 99%, RoboCat showed the potential to learn new tasks with a limited number of demonstrations.
DeepMind envisions RoboCat as a means to lower the barrier to solving new tasks in robotics and aims to further reduce the number of demonstrations required for teaching it to complete new tasks to under 10.
Dropbox $50M in AI and New AI tools
Dropbox has made significant advancements in the field of AI with two major announcements. Firstly, they have launched a $50 million venture fund dedicated to supporting startups focused on AI technologies and their applications.
Additionally, Dropbox is introducing exciting AI features to their platform. One of these features is "Dash," a universal search bar that allows users to search across various tools, content, and apps from third-party platforms like Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Salesforce, and Notion. While currently in beta and available to select users, Dash promises enhanced search capabilities.
Furthermore, Dropbox has introduced "Dropbox AI for files," a tool that enables users to obtain file summaries and ask questions about their files. This feature proves useful when users need a quick summary of lengthy documents, such as a 30-page terms and conditions document. Dropbox AI for files is now available to all Dropbox Pro customers in the United States.
