Google AI Event Recap
Google has arrived! and they came packing! When asked Bard said Google said AI 137 times during the Event.

Here are the 7 Major AI Announcements at I/O:
PaLM 2: Google introduced PaLM 2, an improved language learning model that surpasses its predecessor. It offers advanced technical capabilities and is lightweight and easy to deploy. PaLM 2 supports over 100 languages and excels in coding, writing, and mathematics.
Bard: Google's chatbot, Bard, has been upgraded to become smarter and more capable. It now uses the PaLM 2 model and has improved coding abilities, supports more languages, and offers new features like a dark theme, chat export, and visual elements like images and maps. Bard will also integrate with external partners' extensions.
AI integration in Google Search: Google unveiled Search with generative AI, providing concise and conversational answers to search queries. It offers additional sources for more information and helps users make shopping decisions by comparing product features, prices, and reviews.
AI upgrades to Google Workspace: Google Workspace apps, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Slides, received AI enhancements. Users can benefit from features like auto-replies in Gmail, organizing information in Google Sheets, generating AI images in Google Slides, and experiencing immersive views in Google Maps. Google Photos will also introduce the Magic Editor feature for advanced photo editing using generative AI.
Android personalization with AI: Android users can now personalize their messages with different tones, customize lock screen clocks and shortcuts, and generate custom wallpapers using emojis or photos transformed into 3D cinematic wallpapers.
Duet AI for Google Cloud: Google introduced Duet AI, a development interface powered by AI. It provides code assistance for cloud developers, suggesting completions, identifying errors, and offering fixes. The chat assistant helps users with cloud-related questions, and the No-Code AppSheet allows non-coders to create apps using AI-generated prompts. Duet AI is currently limited to trusted testers.
Gemini: Google also introduced Gemini, a large language model developed by Google DeepMind. While still in the early stages, Gemini aims to compete with OpenAI's GPT-4 as a powerful language model.
These announcements showcase Google's efforts to catch up with Microsoft, they are definitely not on the same level as Microsoft. Microsoft already has multiple products in the hands of people, and Google? Not so much.
OpenAI Goes to Court
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is scheduled to testify before Congress, joining other industry experts, as lawmakers investigate the risks and benefits of AI.
The focus of the hearing will be on OpenAI's ChatGPT. Alongside Altman, IBM's Christina Montgomery and AI critic Gary Marcus will also testify. The hearing aims to address the challenges and potential of AI while establishing rules and safeguards to guide its development and use.
AI Laws are coming quickly and my biggest fear is for the laws not to stifle growth, What laws do you think should be implemented by the government?
New Microsoft AI Deal
Through a strategic partnership, Microsoft plans to integrate Builder.aiās own AI assistant Natasha in its Teams video and chat software to let customers build business apps within the platform.
Microsoft has made an undisclosed investment in Builder.ai, a startup that offers a no-code/low-code platform for building applications. The strategic partnership will integrate Builder.ai's AI assistant Natasha into Microsoft Teams, allowing customers to develop business apps within the software.
Builder.ai will also leverage Microsoft's Azure cloud tools and AI services from its collaboration with OpenAI. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
In some sense, this is similar to the OpenAI deal and we all know how that turned out! This is one to keep an eye on.
