Elon Musk Recruits Team to Develop OpenAI Rival

Say What you want about Elon but its either he’s money hungry and wants to capitalize on the AI boom or he just genuinely wants to help humanity, I think I might be siding with the later.

Elon has been pretty vocal about ChatGPT and OpenAI’s lack of “open”ness, now According to reports, he's been chatting with AI researchers about developing an alternative to ChatGPT, the famous chatbot made by OpenAI.

He approached Igor Babuschkin, an AI researcher who previously worked on Alphabet's DeepMind AI, about forming a research lab, The Information reported, citing people with direct knowledge of the effort.

Also let's not forget that in 2015, Elon and Sam Altman (current CEO of OpenAI) started OpenAI as a noble effort to enhance AI development safely and quickly but according to Elon, what we have now with OpenAI is not what he intended. He stepped down, amid concerns about a conflict of interest with Tesla.

Musk and Babuschkin have discussed forming a team to pursue AI research, but the project is still in the early stages, and there are no material plans to develop specific products, The Information reported. Babuschkin also told the publication that he hasn't officially joined the project.

I completely expect that Musk's new lab might aim to fulfill the initial intention of OpenAI which was to conduct non-profit, open-source AI research.

One of the new tools is the automatic creation of ad assets using Google's AI. This feature enables responsive search ads to display the most appropriate asset combinations, including new assets generated based on the ad's unique context. The new assets are available in English to all advertisers in an open beta.

Early adopters have seen a 2% increase in conversions among ad groups with responsive search ads at a similar cost per conversion. Ad Strength will also consider automatically created assets when determining a rating, and they will use inputs such as keywords to customize headlines and improve relevance. Advertisers can remove any automatically created assets they prefer not to include in their ads.

Facebook (Meta) Plan To Integrate AI

Mark has strikes again ladies and gents.

Basically, Meta plans on integrating Generative AI into Whatsapp and Instagram. I think we can expect Generative text for Whatsapp and Generative Image for Insta.

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is creating a new product group focused on generative AI, which uses machine learning techniques to generate human-like text, images, and other media. The new group will be led by Chief Product Officer Chris Cox and will combine several teams across the company.
