It was also discovered that every conversation you have with ChatGPT is being sent to China to connect you with your Tiktok account. I know it's shocking but we just have to move on and start using Bard.

OpenAI's ChatGPT has been taken offline in Italy by OpenAI after the country's Data Protection Authority accused the firm of collecting and storing personal data without a legal basis, and failing to verify users' ages.

It’s ordered OpenAI to stop collecting Italian users’ data immediately until it amends its data collection practices.

“We have disabled ChatGPT for users in Italy at the request of the Italian Garante [the regulator],” a spokesperson for OpenAI told Computing. “We are committed to protecting people’s privacy and we believe we comply with GDPR and other privacy laws.”

This isn’t the first time that Italy’s data watchdog has taken such action against an AI chatbot. The regulator previously banned chatbot app Replika.ai in February. Replika has become notorious for the personal relationships some users develop with its chatbot, with many expressing distress after the company recently removed the option for erotic roleplay.

Meta’s New AI Robot

Researchers from Meta Platforms' AI research unit have announced two key developments in the field of embodied AI agents.

The first is the creation of an artificial visual cortex, trained on the Ego4D dataset of thousands of videos of people performing everyday tasks. The visual cortex is the region of the brain that enables organisms to convert vision into movement. An artificial visual cortex is therefore a key requirement for any robot that would need to perform tasks based on what it sees in front of it.

So basically they gave a robot an human eye.

The second development is a new technique called adaptive skill coordination, which allows robots to be trained entirely in simulations before transferring those skills to the real world. The team tested the effectiveness of adaptive skill coordination on Boston Dynamics' Spot robot and achieved near-perfect performance.

The researchers plan to integrate these developments to create a single system that moves closer to true embodied AI.

Google Bard Will be Upgraded Soon

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has promised upgrades for the company’s experimental AI chatbot Bard, which was released to the public on March 21st. In an interview, Pichai acknowledged criticism that Bard is less capable than its rivals ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing chatbot, but said that upgrades to Google’s more recent and larger-scale language model, PaLM, would improve its reasoning, coding and maths abilities.

“We clearly have more capable models,” Pichai said in an interview “Pretty soon, perhaps as this [podcast] goes live, we will be upgrading Bard to some of our more capable PaLM models, which will bring more capabilities; be it in reasoning, coding, it can answer maths questions better. So you will see progress over the course of next week.”

Pichai noted that Bard is running on a “lightweight and efficient version of LaMDA,” an AI language model that focuses on delivering dialog. “In some ways I feel like we took a souped-up Civic and put it in a race with more powerful cars,” said Pichai.
