ANTHROPIC RELEASES NEW AI CHATBOT
Anthropic has announced the launch of their new AI model, Claude 2, which showcases improved performance and extended response capabilities. Claude 2 can be accessed via an API or through a new public-facing beta website, claude.ai. The model has seen improvements in coding, math, and reasoning, scoring higher on the Bar exam, the GRE reading and writing exams, and the Codex HumanEval, a Python coding test. Claude 2 can handle up to 100K tokens per prompt, significantly more than GPT-4's 32K limit, enabling it to produce longer documents.
Claude 2 is being marketed as a helpful assistant for many tasks, usable for both individuals and businesses. It's currently available in the US and UK, with plans to expand globally. The safety of the model has also been improved, making it harder to prompt harmful or offensive outputs.
Bill Gates discusses the risks and benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a comprehensive manner. He compares the emergence of AI to past innovations like cars and personal computers, suggesting that with support and retraining, job losses can be minimized. Gates underscores the risk of AI-generated misinformation but remains optimistic that people can learn critical thinking skills and AI can be used to detect such falsehoods. He acknowledges that AI can reflect existing biases, but highlights ongoing efforts to mitigate these biases.
