OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Testified Before Congress

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testified before Congress, advocating for AI regulation, which is a notable shift in the tech industry. Altman believes that uncontrolled AI could cause significant harm and proposed the establishment of a regulatory agency to license and set safety standards for AI models.

Lawmakers welcomed these suggestions and expressed concerns about election misinformation, copyright issues, and job disruption.

Altman acknowledged that AI will automate some jobs but also emphasized the creation of new, improved jobs.

2 New Apple AI Features

Apple is introducing a range of AI-powered accessibility features for its devices. These features aim to assist individuals with cognitive and speech disabilities.

AI detection for selecting options on appliances

Apple recently Demo’d an AI-based Point and Speak feature in the Magnifier app. Essentially, the feature tracks users’ finger movements in front of the camera lens, then reads off the text the user is pointing to.

Apple said this new feature uses the phone’s camera as well as LiDAR and AI to read and then pronounce the text. The new feature should also work with current Magnifier features that describe images and detect people and doors.

AI that can mimic users' voices

Apple said it’s drastically improving its text-to-speech capabilities across its user-end platforms for users with speech impairments. This upcoming Live Speech feature will work during phone and FaceTime calls, as well as when users need it during in-person conversations.

Users should also be able to record some of their more commonly-used expressions for quick access. They are also adding the ability for users to record their speech patterns, a way to “create a voice that sounds like them” for when they are at risk of eventually losing their speech. The Personal Voice app asks users to read a random assortment of text prompts equaling about 15 minutes of audio. The system uses AI to then generate speech that’s equivalent to your personal style of speaking.

The system could be similar to existing platforms like ElevenLabs. While those AI systems have been awash in allegations of people stealing and replicating other people’s voices, this new feature is tied to the user’s iPhone.

These features could be showcased further at Apple's upcoming WWDC in June.

Elon at war with OpenAI

In an Interview with CNBC Elon claimed he is “the reason that OpenAI exists,” citing his past investment in the entity, He also said “I came up with the name,” and recruited key scientists and engineers.

Musk has previously stated that Microsoft controls OpenAI, a claim strongly denied by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, yesterday Morning.

Musk added that signing the letter warning of the dangers of AI was something he wanted to do “for the record.”

He also took shots at Google co-founder Larry Page, saying Page “did not seem to be concerned about AI safety,” Musk alleged, and said, “The final straw was Larry calling me a ‘species-ist’ for being pro-human consciousness instead of machine consciousness.”

How this Tool Can Boost Your Productivity

Prompt Vibes Initially launched as a simple one-page site with a list of prompts, I kept the simplicity of the one-pager in V2 but also added a couple of features to make it easier to use.

When you open a prompt you can view and test it. So instead of just copy-pasting the prompt into ChatGPT, we have Mini ChatGPT with the prompts preloaded for you to just ask a question and experience the prompt before copy-pasting. This is there to make it easier for you to judge if a prompt is what you want.

For some prompts, there’s an embedded ChatGPT with a better UI but the Prompt is not preloaded. Let me know which you prefer.
