It was the year 2018 and Dominos had just launched a campaign called “Paving For Pizza”.

The sole aim of the campaign was to fix all the potholes in cities for free with an estimated budget of $100k to get this done. 

To kick start the campaign, the CEO of Domino’s recorded what happens to a pizza when a city has too many potholes.

Then, he announced that Domino’s would fix the potholes in cities with the most nominations.

Just one week after the campaign started, Domino’s had over 35K social media mentions and was featured on 37+ local and national news channels.

Instead of focusing on why everyone should order from Domino’s like every other pizza company would do

Domino’s instead made every US buyer feel they owed Domino’s a favor, and that they needed to pay back that favor.

Everyone hates potholes, and Domino’s was willing to fix it for free.

The lesson is clear. Offering something for free before you ask someone to buy puts you in control of any business, either as a solopreneur or an entrepreneur.

It's not easy figuring out what to offer for free to attract customers and put yourself in a position of control. 

The offering needs to be valuable to your target audience, easy for you to deliver, and become so irresistible that it can help establish trust and goodwill.

The ad creator will allow businesses to iterate on ads by providing text prompts to produce headlines, descriptions, and accompanying visuals. Google promises each image will be unique. The advanced image editor can update existing ads by making relevant changes like background replacement. Retailers using Merchant Center Next will also get access to the AI ad generation. Google says all AI-created content will have a SynthID watermark to identify whether it was made by AI.
