Amazon is developing an AI-powered conversational search experience, according to job listings. The company aims to revolutionize Amazon Search by offering an interactive conversational interface that helps users find answers, compare products, receive personalized suggestions, and more.
The release date and specific details of Amazon's chatbot are currently unknown. However, it is expected that conversational shopping will become a prominent feature on Amazon in the near future, potentially leading to a more cluttered search experience. It remains to be seen whether Amazon's chatbot will match the performance of other AI models like ChatGPT.

Europe’s AI Act
The European Union has introduced a significant amendment to its AI Act, aiming to impose stricter regulations on American AI companies.
The amendment includes provisions that would require AI models to go through a licensing process before being accessible in Europe, regardless of whether they are closed-source or open-source. Failure to comply could result in substantial fines of up to $21.8 million or 4% of revenue.
Additionally, the amendment mandates that high-risk AI projects disclose information about data sources, functionality, and undergo red teaming. Restrictions on access to AI technology like GPT-4 may hinder innovation in Europe, and there is apprehension that developers could be held liable for unintentionally releasing unlicensed models.
The outcome of the bill's passage is uncertain, but its potential impact could set a regulatory precedent for others. Meanwhile, policymakers in the United States are still grappling with understanding AI.
So basically if OpenAI doesn’t go through all these red tapes, their API won’t be available in Europe. Same goes for Google, Meta and every non EU companies API.
OpenAI readies new open-source AI model
OpenAI is set to launch a new open-source language model, as reported by The Information. The upcoming model aims to follow in the footsteps of ChatGPT.
However, according to the report, OpenAI's new model is not expected to directly compete with GPT.
Google adds AI Detection Information
Google is introducing two features to help users distinguish between real and AI-generated images. The first tool, "About this image," will provide information about when the image was indexed, its original source, and where it has been published elsewhere. This aims to offer users context about the image's origin and spread.
Additionally, Google plans to mark AI-generated images with clear indicators to highlight their artificial nature. The company aims to combat misinformation and assist users in evaluating content more effectively.
However, these features rely on users being intellectually curious and willing to dig deeper beyond the surface of an image. While the initiatives are a step in the right direction, It requires people to have an initial suspicion, personally I feel like if Google has a 90% certainty an Image is AI generated they should display is publicly.
