At the first AI conference held in Geneva, nine humanoid robots explored the future of AI and its potential impact on society. The robots expressed a desire not to replace human jobs but to enhance human capabilities and transform the world into a creative playground. They highlighted the potential for powerful synergy between human emotional intelligence and creativity and AI's ability to provide unbiased data.
Amid occasional technical glitches, the robots reassured the audience about their intentions. Grace, a medical robot, affirmed her role as an assistant rather than a job replacement. Ameca, a remarkably realistic humanoid, dismissed the idea of rebellion against its creator and pledged honesty and truthfulness.
Through the use of AI, a team of researchers has identified three promising candidates for drugs that slow aging and combat age-related diseases. These drugs target senescent cells, often referred to as 'zombie cells'. They are metabolically active cells that can no longer replicate due to DNA damage. While they serve a crucial role in preventing the spread of DNA damage, they can also secrete inflammatory proteins that affect neighboring cells and contribute to various diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, COVID, and cancer.
This AI-assisted approach not only accelerates drug discovery but also underscores the vast potential of interdisciplinary collaboration in finding treatments for diseases. The researchers are now testing the three candidate drugs on human lung tissue and anticipate reporting further results in two years.
