Scientists Now Want to Create AI Using Real Human Brain Cells

We are all amazed by AI but what happens when you mix AI with Human Brain Cells? OI- organoid intelligence.

Researchers from John Hopkins University and Cortical Labs are developing biological computers, based on clusters of brain cells called organoids, with the goal of achieving "organoid intelligence" (OI). OI aims to surpass the capabilities of current AI algorithms by expanding brain organoids to 10 million cells, similar to a tortoise brain. While AI has made significant advancements, human brains still outperform machines in certain tasks such as learning to distinguish objects using few samples.

The development of biological computers promises unprecedented advances in computing power and data efficiency while using a fraction of the energy needed by electronic computers. The technology also has the potential for studying personalized brain organoids from patients with neural disorders, to investigate how genetic factors, medicines, and toxins influence these conditions.

AI model can detect Alzheimer’s disease with over 90 percent accuracy

Researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) have published a study in PLOS ONE demonstrating the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to detect Alzheimer's disease more accurately. By using deep learning techniques, they achieved an accuracy of 90.2% for detecting the risk of Alzheimer's in routine clinical brain images. The model was "blind" to features of the brain that are overly associated with the patient's age, allowing it to detect early-onset cases, which are typically more difficult to identify.
